I have to tell you
that I love reading your books.
Your characters come to life and
make me smile, even laugh at loud,
at their situations and reactions.
You provide a much needed vacation
from everyday cares. My current
favorite is Wedded Bliss. I just
wish there were an audio book to
go along with it. Thank you!

Dear Barbara,
When I started reading Regency romances, I soon found myself with a collection of more than 500 titles! Now I am downsizing - eliminating authors whose books I enjoyed - but not as much as the authors who became my favorites. I'm sur you can guess who my favorite is! (Initials B M!) PLEASE keep writing - what I like about your books is your play on word series and your GREAT sense of humor. And THE HOURGLASS is my super favorite!

Dear Barbara,
I just
wanted to say how much I have
enjoyed your books. I think I must
almost have read my way through
your entire backlist by now.
They're so warm and funny that
they never fail to make me happy
just reading them. I've always
loved the fact that you settle the
other characters in the books as
happily as the main characters.
You also have the best heroes and
heroines. I think my favourite has
to be Graydon from Lady Whilton's
Wedding (which is absolutely
brilliantly funny) or the one from
Lord Heartless, but there are an
awful lot of close runners up.
So, thank you very much.
They've been brilliant,

Wedded Bliss was such fun (as

Words cannot begin to relate, at

have provided solace in my grief
as an unexpected widow. Your books
take me to places I am not able to
go on my own. And they are
wonderful places. I am fascinated

more people than even you can

I am constantly in search authors

agree with Old Latin Teacher and
her one-star review.
Unfortunately, this kind of sloppy
writing and editing is too common
in many recently (and, it
seems, hastily) published Kindle

Barbara,
I recently began reading your
books and must compliment you on
your skill as a
writer. I was particularly
impressed with an older novel of
yours , "An Angel for the Earl".
I generally avoid Fantasy Regency,
since I have found historical
truth far more interesting
than most writer's fantasies
(time-travel romances really
bother me). What suprised me with
"An angel for the Earl" was your
use of fantasy situations as
allegorical devices to discuss
God,
Truth,
and Love. Something attempted by
many but few accomplish so well as
you. The last
chapter was a Masterpiece in the
regency genre. My one BIG
complaint was the lack of an
Epilogue. This reader wanted to
read more about the Lucy & Kerry
characters. Why not include
them as secondary characters in
future novels. They are characters
a reader can learn life
lessons from. You are great at wit
and laughter in your work, but I
think you are a good
teacher as well.

My grandfather has been reading
regency romance novels for decades
now, and as a connoisseur he
recommended An Affair of Interest
to me, giving me his copy a few
years ago when I asked if there
were any I might borrow as I have
always been finnicky about my love
stories. While growing up, my
mother set me on to Georgette
Heyer, and The Devil's Cub quickly
became my favorite - however an
Affair of Interest will always
rank beside it, as more lively and
more witty and with much more
emotion. It is a story that makes
me laugh and lets me feel a little
bit of that sweet heart break that
many readers cannot help but enjoy
because of the promise of
satisfaction at the end. Thank you
for An Affair of Interest. I have
no idea if you enjoyed writing it,
but I will always enjoy going back
and reading it again.

I really enjoyed "Bargain Bride" and also really got a kick out of the quotes from "A Chronicle of Arranged Marriages," by G.E. Felber. I haven't been able to find anything about it on the internet. Did you write that too? If it's an actual book, I would love more information. Thank you very much. And please keep writing--you're wonderful!

I am a fan of the Regency Romance
novels, however, after having read
more than 50 of them in the last
few months, I am SO impressed with
the 'love' scenes in Ms.
Metzger's
books. They are clean, fun and
charming. I have become so very
tired of the grossly explicit
scenes in most of the romance
novels. Those descriptions take
away from the real story. I have
just discovered Metzger's writing
& will read as many of her books
as I can find.

I tell them Metzger is the Oscar

engrossing read, and buy. Thank you for hours of enjoyment over the years.

CommentsThank you for writing CHARMING books that make me laugh out loud.
It's so hard to find books these days that are innocently delightful! Even other modern Regency novels are emotionally manipulative. After all, if I want gross, scary, explicit, or depressing, I just have to look around at our current life!
The world needs more of your books. Thank you and keep writing!
P.S. Since you now have emails here that go back 6 years, it might be helpful to move the "Add Your Comments" to the TOP of the page, or to its own page.

I just tried sending you an email regarding a review I just finished for "Lady Whilton’s Wedding and An Enchanted Affair (double reprint)". I have been a long time fan. I have been wondering for some time now what you use for refrence material when you write. I go to the library and try and find things about the regency time, but I always come up with no luck. Would love to know the type of books you use.
Thanks so much,

CommentsWhat an awesome author! Thank you for making us laugh so much--especially the silly puns--but the plots are incredible and really keep the reader's attention until the last page. I'm such a picky reader that the only other authors I'll consider in the so-called Regency genre are Edith Layton, Carla Kelly, and Georgette Heyer. That's awesome company for anyone. Thank you, thank you!

Dear Barbara Metzger:
I just finished THE DUEL. I saved it for the last of the batch that I had ordered in January; and it was absolutely wonderful! I loved Ian; but Lord Carswell made me howl with laughter. This was so far above what some of the "newest" Regency "stars" are capable of; and where I thought (& still believe) some will never ever be able to go. Thank you for letting us hardcore fans of the genre know that good writers are still out there. You handled everything (& everyone) with such grace & humor. I can barely wait for my second reading.
Many Thanks!

Not since Heyer have I been so entertained by a Regency novel.
Your sense of humor and comedies of manners are "suit me to a cow's thumb."

I own just about every book you've ever written...I've re-read them each many times over. Your ideas are great...I'm looking forward to many more hopefully! :)

Ms. Metzger, I like your site. However, a little suggestion, a summary after each book title would be nice. I am in the process of hunting down all your past titles and a short summary would let me know which ones to find first. Your writing style and sense of humor is awesome.Your command of the english language is excellent. Its evident in the play on words and puns found in your works. Keep up the excellent work. God Bless and continued success.
