Ms. Metzger, I love to read your books. I have tried to read them all and pass them on like little treasures to friends and family. I loved An Angel for the Earl. I loved your trilogy of Valentine short stories. The one about the King was just so funny. Okay, I love them all. Please keep them coming. Thanks for the laughs and the romance. Marian Fergus

Dear Ms. Metzger, I love your funny, romantic, delightful books. My favourites so far are LORD HEARTLESS, ENCHANTED AFFAIR, SNOWDROPS AND SCANDALBROTH, EARLY ENGAGEMENT ... and probably all the other ones I hope to eventually read if I can get my hands on them! They are hard to find! Did you name your poochie after Hero Wantage in FRIDAY'S CHILD?

I forgot to add that I enjoyed "meeting" your furry little fellow. He's quite the little charmer in his patriotic garb! I have an adorable and foxy little sable Pomeranian .... so I am partial to small furry friends. Enjoyed looking at your painting as well. I also paint ...nothing too original... mostly I copy folk art and primitive portraiture on wood and canvas. Thanks again for your books and for creating such a delightfully warm and "homey" web site.

YOU ARE WITHOUT A DOUBT THE WITTIEST ROMANCE WRITER OUT THERE. WHAT WONDERFUL PUNS. i LOVED THE STORY ABOUT THE "KING". I COULD NOT BELIEVE HOW LONG IT TOOK ME TO FIGURE OUT WHO THE KING WAS. THEN I HAD TO GO BACK AND RE-READ IT TO SEE IF I MISSED ANY REFERENCES. WHAT FUN. MY BROTHER WHO IS A RECOVERING ALCHOLOLIC ENJOYED AN ANGEL FOR THE EARL. TRY NOT TO STOP WRITING IN MY LIFETIME.

I love your books for their humor and well-thought out plots. Keep writing!

A question: In THE PAINTED LADY on p. 199 Mr. Dimm says, "there's nothing like the love of a good woman to bring a man to his senses." I've been trying to track down sayings that contain the phrase "the love of a good woman." Is Mr. Dimm's comment one of those old wives' sayings, or unique to him? Do you or your readers know other sayings containing this phrase?

Your books are fun and charming and witty, Your "Heroes" are handsome, your heroines pretty. But author, artist, and good friend true, T'is time I explained some facts to you. A tail-wagging dog is a rather fine thing, But, a cat, oh a cat, is the ultimate supreme being. Much luck with your latest novel!

As an avid reader, I stumbled onto Barbara Metzger several years ago - I buy, keep and reread these wonderful, laugh-out-loud books. She has outrageous quirky plots and lands her characters in absolutely audacious situations. She has an astonishing ability to define the ridiculous! A "must" author for those readers who enjoy Regency-period books.

Dear Barbara, Little did I know that I would collect the books of an artist who sold me a decoration at the Sayville Christmas Fair many, many years ago!! I still have that piece of driftwood with the wonderful animal scene on it as well as a collection of wonderfully funny books! Hallo, I've been a fan of yours since I first read, um... I think it was probably 'Lady Whilton's Wedding' I quickly scoured bookshelves for more, though. The sense of fun and laughter that you bring to the books is possibly my favorite part.

That, and they make me giggle and chuckle and laugh outright at times. I don't have a favorite, although 'The Primrose Path' tops my list along with 'Father Christmas' (I'm sorry, but the line about the Duke of Ware needing an heir is terribly catchy... ;)

Thank you for these books. :)

Just had to take a minute to let you know how much I have enjoyed your books. Was only just recently introduced to your work by a UBS owner in Lexington, Ky. I've read four so far, starting with 'An Affair of Interest'. I read the last one 'Miss Treadwell's Talent' one night while my husband was at home. I tried to control my laughter but too often I would find myself just laughing uncontrollably. I was right about my husband's reaction. I think he's ready to have me committed. Thank you for hours of fun.

Dear Ms. Metzger: I have been one of your greatest fans since the early 1980's. I can always count on you to get a large dose of humor into your stories; you are pretty much the only author I've read who handles non-human characters so expertly. Keep 'em coming! I've trained other commuters on the train to ignore me when I laugh out loud at your books--they hardly sidle away anymore. Without fail I purchase every title of yours I can find to add to my re-read collection. And the friends to whom I've recommended you agree wholeheartedly. Thanks for all the great hours of enjoyment and good Regency fun; thanks for keeping things light.

Had to make some time to acknowledge your talents. I just started reading "Valentines" for the third time, and i don't think i will EVER get tired of 'The King'. You have a wonderful website and keep up the wonderful writting, you bring such joy to so many :)

I have given it to my mother to read as she is also a great fan of yours I have four more coming from hardtofind books and I have to keep them untill I have an small operation in October so I have something good to read while I convalesce.

Hi Barbara, I am so pleased because I have been able to get lots of your early novels on hardtofindbooks.com. In June I ended up with four old ones and the two new ones that was WONDERFUL. I am disappointed that you are not producing another new one until next April. I have found a few more good authors but still NOONE as good as you. Thank you. Gillian

I have some of them (I've been reading you for years because of the good, 'clean' fun and stories), but I definitely want the rest of them. Thanks for the mini vacations ... my house has never looked messier, but my imagination and your books have taken me on a weekend vacation.

Barbara, Thanks for the book listing. I love HERO and I agree with the comment that said a "Worthy Woof" would be a great sequel for Kenyon and Aurora!! I love all animals and your books never disappoint me, because of the humor, animals and romance all in one. I am printing the list of all books and will set out a hot pursuit to locate them so I might enjoy more hours of reading during summer vacation.

This is a great site! I'm glad to be introduced to Hero as well as to get the backlist of my favorite Regency author. I especially like books with canine (or feline) characters. I think A Worthy Woof should be the sequel to A Worthy Wife (Aurora and Kenyon are inundated with puppies...)

I have loved your books from the moment I read An Angel for the Earl. If I need something to read a Barbara Metzger is my first choice. The book A Worthy Wife is completely worn out from so many rereadings and I've only received that a few weeks ago. I love your books, the ones that I can find that is. Keep up the good work!!!

As I am Regency fan, particulary, Signet, you are one of the best authors, weaving humor, mystery, fantasy and romance into the most intriguing plots. Needless to say I have a hard time putting any of your books down, but your latest The Wordthy Wife, kept me entertained through most of the night. Afterall I have to get some sleep, but skipped chores to indulge the next day.
